Terms of Use
Effective Date: 24 March 2026
Controller: SVX BETA LTD, 3 Hill Street, Edinburgh, EH2 3JP, United Kingdom
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the SoapVox platform (“SoapVox”, “the Platform”), you agree to these Terms of Use and to the accompanying Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and Cookies Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
These Terms apply only during the Open Beta.
2. Eligibility and Beta Status
Eligibility (18+)
You must be at least 18 and capable of entering a binding agreement.
SoapVox is an adults-only service.
Users must appear on camera.
The Platform requires a preview snapshot showing the user’s face before entering a visible session.
SoapVox requires camera presence and does not perform facial recognition, biometric identification, or automated age estimation.
Moderators may review the short-lived snapshot (face image only) to detect under-18 users or unsafe use. Suspected under-18 users are removed immediately.
Beta Status
The Open Beta is:
• adults-only (18+),
• strictly capped and small-scale,
• time-limited to scheduled daily live windows, and
• subject to change, interruption, suspension, or termination at any time.
SoapVox may restrict access by region, pause features, or suspend the service without notice.
Beta participation does not create a right to future access or features.
Appeals are processed only while the Platform remains operational.
3. Service Description
SoapVox allows adult users to:
• appear via webcam;
• optionally display a label (“Left”, “Right”, “Neutral/Centrist”, “Non-Political”);
• select a trending discussion topic or enter their own topic text;
• display their country for real-time on-screen context;
• participate in visible one-to-one discussions; and
• optionally enable spectator streaming allowing a limited audience to view a live session (view-only).
User Content Licence (Live Transmission)
By participating in a visible session, you grant SVX BETA LTD a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to transmit your live audio-visual stream and preview snapshot solely for the purpose of operating the Platform during the Open Beta. This includes displaying your preview card to other users and viewers within the Platform, including viewers watching other active sessions. Live session video is transmitted to matched participants and, where spectator streaming is enabled, may also be transmitted to spectators.
This licence terminates automatically at the end of the session. SoapVox does not record, archive, or reuse live sessions itself during the Open Beta.
User Content Licence (User-Submitted Recordings)
Participants acknowledge during the Go Live process that visible sessions may be recorded and shared publicly by other participants.
Where a participant independently records and voluntarily submits a clip from a session, that participant grants SVX BETA LTD a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, edit, distribute, and promote the submitted content for Platform and marketing purposes.
Submitted recordings may include other participants who voluntarily appeared in the session environment and accepted that sessions may be recorded and shared publicly.
SoapVox does not create recordings of sessions itself and may only feature recordings that participants have independently created and already made public or voluntarily submitted.
Only participants who appeared in the session may submit recordings for rewards or promotional consideration. Recordings submitted by third-party viewers are not eligible for platform incentives.
The submitting participant represents and warrants that they have the right to grant this licence and that the recording was made in accordance with these Terms and applicable law.
This licence continues for as long as the submitted content is retained or made available by the Platform.
Demo Mode (Off-Hours Preview)
During scheduled off-hours outside the live debate window, the Platform may operate in a limited demonstration mode. During this period, sessions do not display the “Live” indicator and are not visible to other users as active sessions.
In Demo Mode:
• your preview is not shown to other users;
• you cannot enter a live debate; and
• spectator viewing is not enabled.
Moderation approval and enforcement apply during scheduled live debate windows, when content becomes visible to other participants.
Purpose of the Platform
SoapVox exists to facilitate voluntary civic discussion between adults on matters of public interest. The Platform supports pluralistic dialogue by enabling users to exchange views transparently within a live, face-visible format, without profiling, targeting, or behavioural inference.
Any political-opinion data (such as an optional stance selected by a user or political content voluntarily entered in topic text) is voluntary, limited to the duration of the session or short-term moderation retention as described in the Privacy Policy, and is not retained server-side as persistent political-opinion profiles or histories.
Political-opinion data is processed solely on the basis of explicit user consent in accordance with Article 9(2)(a) UK GDPR.
Consent and Entry Flow
Participation requires explicit layered consent, including age confirmation, webcam and microphone permissions, a preview screen, a two-step confirmation, and login using OAuth or a one-time email code.
SoapVox does not create user-facing accounts or profiles, does not record or archive live sessions on the Platform, and does not use automated ranking or political inference.
Visibility and Session Scope
A “visible session” means your preview card may be shown to other users, while your live video is visible to the participant you interact with and, where spectator streaming is enabled for a session, to spectators viewing the session. Sessions are not publicly broadcast, indexed, or archived by the Platform.
By clicking “Go Live”, you agree that your preview card may be shown to other users and viewers within the Platform.
By entering a visible session, participants acknowledge that sessions can be recorded and shared publicly by other participants in accordance with the consent notices presented before entering a live session, including the Go Live confirmation.
Preview Snapshots
A short-lived snapshot (face image only) is generated when you confirm your camera or update your on-screen card.
Preview snapshots may be shown only to:
• users currently swiping the queue,
• viewers watching active sessions within the Platform,
• users submitting a report about a recent interaction with you, and
• moderators reviewing sessions for safety and participation compliance.
Snapshots contain no stance, country, or topic information, include no overlays, and are deleted automatically within 24 hours. When a snapshot has already been deleted by the 24-hour cycle, no image is shown in the reporting or moderation interface.
Stance Selection and Non-Political Participation
Choosing a stance is optional. Users may select “Left”, “Right”, “Neutral/Centrist”, or “Non-Political”.
Selecting “Non-Political” displays the “Non-Political” label during the session, does not restrict queue placement, and does not prevent users from entering topic text. Country is displayed for real-time context in the same manner as other participants.
Where a political stance (“Left”, “Right”, or “Neutral/Centrist”) is selected, it is used only for real-time on-screen context during the active session.
Stance data is:
• not stored server-side or retained in logs,
• not accessible through moderation tools, reports, backend systems, or stored administrative records,
• not included in reports or moderation tools, and
• cleared from the user’s browser memory when the session ends.
Country may be retained short-term in restricted security and audit logs for safety and compliance purposes.
Discussion topics (including controller-maintained trending topics and user-entered topic text) may be retained as platform content and are not linked to stance, country, login identifiers, or identifiable user records.
Topic–session associations are stored in short-lived moderation records for up to 28 days solely for moderation and safety review and are not available to moderators together with stance, country, login identifiers, or identifiable user data.
Geographic Region Use
Country information may be used to determine a general service region for safety and operational management. Region assignment is not used for ranking, matching, profiling, or political inference.
The stance–country pairing is not stored together in moderation records, application logs, or platform databases.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
• use the Platform lawfully
• follow all consent and safety notices
• keep your face visible while participating
• report harmful behaviour
• comply with these Terms and the Acceptable Use Policy
You are solely responsible for anything you display or enter on the Platform, including topic text and other user-submitted content. SoapVox does not verify the accuracy of user-entered content and disclaims liability for statements made by users.
5. Prohibited Conduct
You must not:
• engage in illegal, harmful, abusive, or unsafe behaviour
• harass or discriminate
• display nudity, sexual content, or violent imagery
• promote, praise, or advocate for extremist or terrorist organisations, illegal activities, or violent causes
• record or capture another user’s session in a manner that is unlawful, misleading, or inconsistent with the consent notices presented before entering a live session, including the Go Live confirmation.
• attempt to identify users
• bypass moderation or consent flows
• scrape, automate, or reverse-engineer the Platform
• use the Platform for organised spam, coordinated influence operations, commercial solicitation, or automated campaigning.
Breaches may result in removal, blocking, or referral to law enforcement.
Screen-Capture Warning
SoapVox cannot technically prevent users from capturing their own screens or recording sessions using external tools.
By participating in a visible session, you acknowledge that other participants or spectators may record and share session content publicly in accordance with the consent notices presented before entering a live session, including the Go Live confirmation.
SoapVox does not control how such recordings may be used once created by other users.
6. Moderation and Reporting
SoapVox uses limited automated signals to support human moderation. These signals may route reports for review, enforce technical participation requirements, and apply keyword-rule screening and machine-learning toxicity scoring to user-entered topic text to generate advisory risk indicators for moderators (for example, colour-coded flags). These indicators do not automatically block, remove, suspend, or penalise users. Automated systems do not make moderation or enforcement decisions; all such decisions are made by human reviewers.
Moderators see only:
• the face-only preview snapshot (if still within the 24-hour retention window),
• the reported topic,
• timestamps relating to the reported session,
• the structured report category, and
• any optional free-text details voluntarily submitted by the reporting user for moderation context.
Moderators may observe sessions that are viewable within the Platform via spectator streaming, including where a session has been reported for review or requires moderation. During such observation moderators may see the same on-screen elements visible to viewers (such as stance labels or country display), but this information is visible only within the live interface and is not accessible through backend systems or stored moderation records.
Session records also include a session ID, pseudonym ID, and IP address for security and abuse prevention. These are not shown to moderators and are accessible only to senior administrators or authorised infrastructure personnel for security, abuse investigation, or lawful disclosure purposes.
Snapshots are deleted within 24 hours. Moderation logs are retained for 28 days.
System Separation
Moderation tools, session records, and server-level security logs are held in separate systems with distinct access controls. Moderators cannot technically access IP addresses, login identifiers, or any cross-system data through the moderation interface.
Only a small number of senior administrators can access security logs for abuse investigation or lawful disclosure, and any cross-system correlation requires separate credentials and elevated permissions.
7. Data and Privacy
Data is processed under the Privacy Policy.
Key points:
• short-lived preview snapshots, deleted within 24 hours
• IP retained 28 days for safety
• country displayed on-screen for real-time context; retained short-term in restricted security and audit logs for safety and compliance purposes
• stance processed only in real-time
• pseudonymisation hides all handles and emails
• LocalStorage stores only non-personal UI state
• The Platform does not record or archive sessions. Users may independently record sessions, and any such recording is the responsibility of the user making it.
Political-opinion data is processed solely on the basis of explicit user consent in accordance with Article 9(2)(a) UK GDPR, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Authentication uses pseudonymous identifiers required to operate the service while avoiding persistent political profiling or behavioural political histories.
8. Feedback Rewards
Rewards are provided to recognise user participation and sharing activity. Rewards are not payments for the creation of recordings on behalf of the Platform. Participants may optionally submit publicly posted review videos or links for reward consideration.
Optional written feedback may be submitted through EU-hosted systems.
If an email address is voluntarily provided for follow-up or reward delivery, it is deleted within 28 days.
Written feedback text may be retained for internal review and service improvement purposes, provided it is held without linkage to session data, identifiers, or live interaction records.
Eligibility and reward issuance are verified manually and may be granted at SoapVox’s discretion.
9. Intellectual Property
The Platform is operated by SVX BETA LTD under licence.
All intellectual property rights in the Platform, including its software, interfaces, design, and documentation, are owned by a third party and are licensed to SVX BETA LTD for the purposes of operating the Open Beta.
Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Platform solely for personal participation during the Open Beta, subject to the terms of the applicable licence under which the Platform is operated.
No rights are granted to copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, scrape, or commercially exploit any part of the Platform.
10. Disclaimers and Liability
SoapVox is provided “as is” for testing.
SVX BETA LTD is not liable for:
• user conduct or displayed content
• third-party services
• interruptions or resets during the beta
Nothing limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or death/personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Suspension or Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to enforce policies, address misuse, comply with law, or manage beta events.
Data is deleted per the retention schedule.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom.
UK users may raise concerns with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
EU users may contact their local Data Protection Authority.
Nothing in these Terms restricts your statutory rights.
13. Updates
We may update these Terms for safety, legal, or operational reasons.
Updated versions appear at: info.soapvox.live/legal/terms-of-use
